Porcelain Cameo Is Our Sonic Bids Emerging Artist of The Week Porcelain Cameo Website Porcelain Cameo is a 4 member band and the creation of its 17 year old vocalist.  This performer has impressed her audiences for many years with her strong vocals; belting out songs from metal to classical and everything in between. In 2009, achievements included the Brantford Idol Teen Grand Champion title, semi-finalist at the CNE Rising Star, winner at the York Region Talent Search, Celebration of the Arts bursary winner and the Norfolk Fair Champion title wrapped up the year. 2010 saw her focus her attention on creating her own original sound.  Teaming up with producer and songwriter Michael Hanson of the multi-award winning band Glass Tiger, together they created 5 original songs to reflect her musical style. To round out that style, she sought to surround herself with top calibre musicians for live performances.  Fate stepped in and Amanda's path crossed with Andrew, guitar, Ben, bass and Sammie, drums.  They quickly bonded into a true band and have impressed and gathered fans at each of their live performances. Andrew hails from Brampton, Ontario.  As the lead guitarist, he brings a wealth of musical style to the band.  Raised on a steady diet of classic rock, it is bands like The Eagles, Colin James, Led Zeppelin (to name a few) who where his early teachers.  Andrew’s first attempt at playing was his fathers’ old four string bass at age 14.  However, it was his brothers Christmas gift of guitar and amp that hooked and filled him with the passion and desire to continue playing.  Andrew has not looked back since. Ben will tell anyone listening that music is his passion.  But all you have to do is hear him play to know it.  Originally trained in guitar, it was with the bass that he found his groove.  Ben states an eclectic taste in music as his style influence; from bands like The Rolling Stones, Rush, AC/DC to Lamb of God and Metallica and with everything in between. From age 13, Sammie had absolutely no doubt that he was a drummer; full stop.  Studying the drums with Neil Lafortune for 4 years helped him perfect his craft.  Sammie sites a wide range of musical styles as his influence including jazz, blues, funk, Latin, afro Cuban and good old fashion rock n’ roll.  Ask him what makes him happy and he won’t hesitate in answering ‘sitting at my kit, with a set of sticks in hand, playing for a live audience’.  Sammie also freely admits to a slight obsession with acquiring new gear.  You will often hear someone expressing ‘Sam!, not another cymbal!!'
