Reggie Calloway
Bring Back The Love

So what does the author of songs such as “Freak-A-Zoid” and “No Parking on the Dance Floor” do for an encore? How does one step out of the shadows of a successful act such as Midnight Star? You release a long overdue solo album.

Reggie Calloway’s Bring Back The Love is a solid solo effort featuring some outstanding soul filled vocals. After listening to this CD I can already imaging hearing most of these tracks playing on radios and iPods everywhere.

Calloway not only sings he plays the flute, provides drum programming then produces and mixes the album. His experience in the industry since the 80s has paid off in a big way on his first solo recording. The production is sound and clean and it goes without saying how smooth and perfected his vocals are from start to finish.

Those that enjoy R & B-Pop with jazzy undertones will enjoy this album. This is not the kind of CD to spin if you are looking to get energized; it’s made for relaxation and romance. In fact I can see some potential hits on the horizon with probable wedding reception favorites following that. The silky smooth duet with sultry female vocals that compliment Mr. Calloway on “Walking Between Raindrops” is fine example of this kind of appeal.

The following track “Sabrina” has a Sade feel to it, with that familiar beat and hooky vocals. It all brings back the mid-eighties sound I heard from the ultra successful diva. Not to say Calloway sounds like Sade but if there were a male version of such a singer this track fits the bill.

The great songs just keep coming on this CD and it is the quintessence of stability. I think people would expect nothing less from such a respected and gifted artist as Reggie Calloway. You get all of that and more on Bring Back The Love.
