Requiem For Delinquency

Requiem For Delinquency - Hobs End

Requiem For Delinquency is one man, a classically trained composer named Faron Chance Morrison. I must say that his website is just as cool as his name. So the question remains does the music follow in step?
Hobs End pictures a doorway to some alternate universe or world if you will. What you find in the CD booklet is just that, things like a Rhinoceros with wings grazing with the cosmos as a backdrop. As you explore the booklet further you find flying fish in the air just like birds. This is strange and different artwork that leaves you at a loss to the meaning of it all, nevertheless something that could be appreciated if you have a love for science fiction and the other worldly.
Hobs End is a CD that uses keyboards and some vocal tracks that are pulled from outside the music with people’s dialogue fitting for the concept of each track. The sound is electronic and pop and Morrison’s vocal treatments are reminiscent of The Pet Shop Boys in their heyday. While music of this nature can be very repetitive with electronic drumbeats and so forth, Morrison sprinkles in some tasteful acoustic piano and alternative sounds to give it all some depth and richness while effectively utilizes the spaced out effects of synths at every pathway of this project.
Morrison’s saving grace is his pleasing relaxing vocal style. Again while I am well aware of how monotonous this type of music can be, this artist does a good job of making it more than it can be with all the right sounds and vocalizations, voices, and whatever else is at his disposal to make this CD an intriguing and mysterious treat for those ready to walk through that door of the unknown.
